Morinville, Alberta- On August 8, 2016 at approximately 4:05 a.m., Morinville RCMP responded to a call at the Morinville Mac’s convenience store where a lone male entered and attempted to rob the store at knife point.
The lone male entered the Mac’s store brandishing a knife. The male was wearing a black sweater and had his face covered except for his eyes, with a black balaclava. The male entered through the front door and walked behind the till area with a knife in one hand and a bag in the other. There was nothing taken or said while the male was in the store. The male left the store heading North into the town of Morinville.
Morinville RCMP along with Police Dog Services were on scene within minutes of the call but the male was not located.
The male is described as:

· 5’3”- 5'4”
· Slim build
Clothing description:
· Black sweater with no visible markings or writing
· Dark coloured pants
· Black Balaclava
· Dark shoes/boots
The Morinville RCMP is requesting the public’s assistance in locating the offender.

Morinville, Alberta – August 8, 2016 at approximately 8:26 A.M., the Morinville RCMP responded to a report that the body of an adult male had been located in a rural area near the intersection of Township Road 540 and Rural Route 263 by a local resident.
Police attended the location and cordoned off the area to conduct a thorough examination of the scene and removal of the body.
An autopsy was conducted August 9, 2016 at the office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton which determined that the manner of death in this case is homicide. The identity of the deceased man has yet to be determined and further examination is required.
The RCMP has ensured that all required resources have been made available to move the investigation forward. Members from the RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU) based in Edmonton have assumed carriage of the investigation with assistance from the Forensic Identification Section (FIS) as well as members from the RCMP detachments in Morinville and St. Albert. In addition, assistance is being received from the Edmonton Police Service.
At this time, no additional details or comments will be available as the investigation is ongoing, however, should new information become available the media will receive an updated media release.
