Theft of Truck, Trailer and Riding Mower- Athabasca
On August 6, 2017 at approximately 11:00 a.m. the Athabasca RCMP responded to a vehicle theft from the Athabasca Public Works Yard located in the town of Athabasca. An employee saw a red Dodge county truck leaving the yard. The truck appeared suspicious as it was hauling a trailer and riding mower that was not properly secured. Police were contacted and patrolled the area. Outlying RCMP detachments were also notified but the truck was unable to be located.
The following day, a burnt out truck was located in the Calling Lake area. The recovered vehicle is believed to be the stolen county truck. Due to the extensive fire damage, the RCMP Auto Theft Unit in Edmonton will be assisting to confirm it as the stolen truck.
The lawn mower is described as a green John Deere "zero clearance" riding mower and the trailer is a silver aluminum utility trailer.
