Boyle RCMP investigate armed robbery in the Village of Boyle – UPDATE
Boyle, Alberta – On Jan. 4, 2018, at approximately 6:30PM, Boyle RCMP responded to an armed robbery at a convenience store in the Village of Boyle. A male walked into the store approached staff at the front counter, proceeded to brandish a knife and demanded money. The suspect then left the store with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was harmed.

An arrest warrant has been issued for John Zacharias, 23-year-old from Westlock, Alberta in relation to this incident. Zacharias is facing several criminal code charges and should not be approached if located. 

John Zacharias is described as
  • First Nations
  • 5’6” tall / 160 lbs
  • Black hair / brown eyes

Sturgeon Rural Crime Watch

Good Morning,

On October 10th, 2017, Morinville RCMP received a report of a Break and Enter and theft to a residence at #19 25005 Sturgeon Road, in Sturgeon County. The victims returned home from work to find the front door to the residence forced open in order to gain entry. Personal items were taken from the residence, in part a wedding ring, an American and a Canadian passport, a Permanent Residency Card and approximately $10,000 CDN amongst other possible items. 

Police believe the break in happened between 11:30 am and 4:00 pm.

Sturgeon Rural Crime Watch

Good Morning,

On November 16th, 2017, Morinville RCMP received a report of a Break and Enter and theft to a residence situated at 26424 Township Road 540, in Sturgeon County. The victims were not home at the time of the break and enter but arrived home from work to find access to the residence from the rear door.  A substantial amount of personal items were taken, in part laptop computers, men and women jewelry, and American currency amongst other items. No video was available and there were no witness, as such no suspects have been identified. 

Police believe the break in happened between 12:30 PM and 3:30 PM.

Good Morning,

On October 19th, 2017, Morinville RCMP received a report of an attempted Theft and Mischief to Telus Communication Cable located 1 km west of Highway 28 on Township Road 570, in Sturgeon County. Telus was advised in the early morning of October 19th, 2017 of a landline systems outage in the area via customer notification. Enquiries from Telus revealed approximately 400m of cable was cut, dragged into an adjacent field on the south side of Township Road 570. The cable was recovered, however the loss resulting from this outage is estimated at $500, which is the result of time to source the outage, and mobilize technicians to repair the cable. 

Police believe the mischief happened between 12:00 am and 4:00 am.

Good Morning,

On January 11th, 2018, Morinville RCMP received a report of a theft of a vehicle from a property situated at 56218 Range Road 245, in Sturgeon County. The victim awoke in the morning and observed one vehicle accessed and another vehicle missing. No buildings were accessed. A grey 2005 Volvo XC90 AB l/p EYS482 was the vehicle stolen. Two purses, both containing government and identification documents were in the stolen vehicle.  

Police believe the break in happened sometime between January 10th, 2018 at 11:00 pm to January 11th at 5:00 am.

Good Morning,

On January 2nd, 2018, Morinville RCMP received a report of a Break and Enter and theft to a shed and a RV trailer at a property situated at 25013 Highway 37, in Sturgeon County. The victims arrived at the property and observed tire tracks and footprints in the snow. A padlock on the RV trailer was damaged and the access door was left ½ open. A weed trimmer, chain saws and fuel in a jerry can were taken from the shed.  

Police believe the break in happened over the Christmas season prior to January 1st at 3:00 pm.

New Release via The Boom 94.1 for Armed Robbery in Boyle

On Jan. 4, 2018, at approximately 6:30PM, Boyle RCMP responded to an armed robbery at a convenience store in the Village of Boyle. A male walked into the store ...approached staff at the front counter, proceeded to brandish a knife and demanded money. The suspect then left the store with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was harmed.
The suspect was described as:
· Aboriginal/white male
· 5’5” – small build
· Black hoodie
· Dark sunglasses
· Blue jeans
Boyle RCMP made extensive patrols in the area but the suspect was not located.

Break & Enter

Complainant reported interupting a break and enter to his detached shop and attempted theft of a company Dodge 3500 pick up truck and tri axle goose neck trailer with a skid steer on it. Member attended. Shop door forced open. Passenger window on truck smashed. Keys for truck located in garage. Suspect couldn't drive standard and ETHERIDGE heard his truck engine revving. Two male suspects fled in a mid size car. Video surveillance obtained. Laptop(broken) and a Crossman Pellet Rifle stolen. No serial numbers. Scene photos obtained. Neighbourhood inquiries conducted. Neighbour saw vehicle and believed it to be a green or grey Toyota.
