Boyle RCMP Arrest Multiple Individuals on Firearms Charges & Recover Stolen Property
Boyle, Alberta – On April 12 2018, Boyle RCMP were advised of a firearms complaint at an address within Athabasca County, Alberta.
Police
learned there was a confrontation at a residence which resulted in one
male brandishing a firearm at another male, and threatening the male
with the firearm. The one male fled the scene and contacted Police. No
one was harmed. Police conducted a complete and thorough investigation
which resulted in multiple individual’s beings arrested and charged.
On
April 17 2018, Boyle RCMP with assistance from the Eastern Alberta
Crime Reduction Unit (EADCRU) executed a search warrant on the
residence.
Peter Hamelin, 33-year-old and Trevor Germain, 40-year-old both from Lac La Biche, Alberta have been charged with:
· Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
· Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
· Tampering with a Serial Number - Firearm (x2)
Hamelin
is also facing additional an additional charge of Possession of a
Firearm While Prohibited. Germain is also facing an additional charge of
Breach of Probation Order.
Jonathan Jutras, 37-year-old male from Athabasca, Alberta has been charged with:
· Extortion Using a Firearm
· Careless Use of a Firearm
· Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
· Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
· Pointing a Firearm
· Assault
· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
· Breach of Recognizance (x3)
“The
search warrant that was executed is a great example of an
intelligence-led investigation where stolen property and prohibited
firearms were recovered.” says Constable Andrew Deme of the Boyle RCMP.
“We will continue to focus on K Divisions initiative on crime reduction
and target those repeat property crime offenders.”.
Hamelin
and Germain were remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in
Provincial Court on Tuesday, April 24 2018 at 10:00 AM in Boyle.
Jutras
was also remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Provincial
Court on Thursday, April 19 2018 at 10:00 AM in Fort Saskatchewan.
